Ground Preparations for Drawing and Painting

Ground Preparations for Drawing by Wallace Seymour fine art products include the following:

  • Murano Glass ground
Used as a ground coating, applied to canvas, board, paper etc. This slightly granular preparation adds a little texture into the painting ground but also increases luminosity of acrylic colour.((especially transparent colours) when over painted with thin glazes of acrylic.
  • Pumice Primer
Creates a toothy textured drawing surface that really captures the pigments of pastels and other dry media such as charcoal and the Ancient Drawing Materials. Mix with water to achieve a spreadable consistency and brush onto your paper to prime the surface which will become grainy. Contains natural pumice grounds in an acrylic medium.
  • Marble Dust Ground for Drawing
Mildly abrasive ground, for metalpoint, dry drawing media and liquid inks. Dilute with water as required. Apply to paper/board surfaces.
  • Bone Ash Ground
Soft, fibrous support, for all drawing materials, liquid inks, PS Liquid Graphite. Dilutes with water. Apply to paper (200gsm +), acrylic primed boards, canvas, etc. Can be used as primer on paper for over painting with oil colour.
