ROMNEY 18C Portrait Palette

Palette composed of original pigments, based on a palette found in the studio of portrait painter George Romney (1734-1802).

All the pigments used are 100% natural, from plants, earths, minerals.
The pre-mixed tints are named as commonly known to portrait painters in the late 18C. Pre-mixed tints saved time in a portrait sitting. Romney often undertook up to 12 portrait sittings in one day, so careful preparation of these pre-mixed tints (normally the work for a studio assistant) would be essential.
The pigments are carefully milled into a gum emulsion, with natural mineral charges.
Dilute with water only. On drying, the colour is fixed and permanent. Apply to any art paper or gessoed panel.
